Hello, my name is Regina
Seeing a therapist doesn’t mean that something is wrong with you!
It means that you may be:
-Seeking clarity on some aspects of your life
-Wanting to work through some complex emotions
-Wanting to work through a traumatic experience
-Challenging unhelpful thinking patterns
-Learning new techniques to deal with difficult situations
-Focusing on personal growth
All the above and more can be explored with an approach that goes across the diagnosis and mindfulness is often central to them all.
Mindfulness is at the core of my way of working with clients and living my own life. And this is what I would encourage you to learn to add vitality to your life and address the difficult times you may be experiencing..
I am a ‘third wave’ CBT accredited practitioner with extensive experience in ‘Talking Therapies’ This means that I usually work trans diagnostically integrating Mindfulness, Compassion Focus Therapy, DBT, and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy with standard CBT.
I have a diploma in Counselling and an MA in CBT. I used to teach CBT in FE Colleges, worked with Substance Misuse in Wales, and until December 2019 I worked in the NHS where, in addition to delivering High-Intensity therapy, I taught CBT to trainee psychiatrists. Now I work only p/time in private practice. I used to teach mindfulness courses in the NHS and was part of the Compassionate Resilience Program for people suffering from childhood traumas and PTSD. My areas of expertise enable me to work with a number of adult presentations.
Currently, I do not work with Addictions any longer, with Eating Disorders and patients who present risks to themselves and others.
Rigorous ethical practice, continuous improvement, and updating my skills and areas of expertise gained me the British Association for Behavioural and Cognitive Psychotherapies Accreditation. I am currently improving my knowledge and application of Relational Frame Theory, Neuroplasticity, Neuroscience.
Psychoeducation is an essential part of the Cognitive Behavioural approach but the relationship between therapist and client, self-awareness, caring for yourself as well as for others, and acceptance and commitment to your values is necessary for discovering and activating the therapist that is inside each of us. My mission is to help you find your inner therapist and live a life of vitality and purpose.
