Professional Overview: Jon is a Psychotherapeutic counsellor with a diverse skill set and a passion for helping individuals navigate life’s challenges. Jon is committed to providing empathetic and tailored support to his clients.
Approaches:
- Person-Centred Approach (PCA): This approach, pioneered by Carl Rogers, emphasises the therapist’s unconditional positive regard, empathy, and congruence in creating a safe and non-judgmental space for clients to explore their thoughts and feelings.
- Humanistic Counseling: Humanistic therapy focuses on an individual’s innate capacity for growth and self-actualisation. It emphasises self-exploration, self-awareness, and personal responsibility, with a belief in the client’s ability to find solutions within themselves.
- Relational Counseling: This approach focuses on the therapeutic relationship between the client and the therapist. It explores how past relationships and experiences shape current patterns of relating to foster healthier connections.
- Psychodynamic Counseling: Psychodynamic therapy delves into unconscious processes and early life experiences to understand how they influence present-day thoughts, feelings, and behaviours. It explores unresolved conflicts and aims to bring them into awareness for healing.
- Transactional Analysis: Developed by Eric Berne, transactional analysis examines interpersonal interactions and communication patterns. It aims to help clients understand and change dysfunctional relational dynamics, often through analysing ego states and transactions.
