What is Person-Centered Counselling? Carl Rogers developed this humanistic approach, emphasising the therapist’s unconditional positive regard, empathy, and genuineness toward the client. In this therapeutic relationship, the client is empowered to explore their own feelings and experiences, leading to self-discovery, personal growth, and emotional healing.
Areas of Expertise: Sophie specialises in assisting clients with a range of issues, including:
- Anxiety: Helping individuals manage and cope with feelings of unease, worry, and fear.
- Anger Management: Supporting clients in understanding and regulating their anger in healthy ways.
- Depression: Providing a supportive environment for individuals struggling with low mood, hopelessness, and sadness.
- Self-Esteem: Assisting clients in building a positive self-image and enhancing self-worth.
- Relationship Challenges: Guiding individuals through difficulties in their relationships, fostering communication and understanding.
- Trauma: Supporting clients in processing and healing from past traumatic experiences.
Approach: Sophie’s approach to counselling is client-centred, prioritising the client’s autonomy, self-direction, and personal growth. She believes that each individual has the capacity for positive change and works collaboratively with clients to identify their goals and develop strategies for achieving them. Through active listening, empathy, and genuine understanding, Sophie helps clients gain insight into their experiences and empowers them to make meaningful life changes.
