Sonia is an integrative counsellor who integrates various therapeutic approaches as needed. She works a lot with the unconscious mind, meaning that she can help you recognise patterns of thought and behaviour that you may not be fully aware of. It is through this exploration of self that solutions of many of life’s challenges can be found.

Adults

As an integrative counsellor, Sonia can draw on several therapeutic approaches and principles to support your work together. This includes integrating Person-Centred, Psychodynamic and Existential principles.

Sonia has far-reaching therapeutic interests, including Anxiety, Bereavement, Depression, Mental Health, Self Esteem, Self Confidence and Relationship Challenges.

Approach

A compassionate and skilled counsellor who embraces the concept of recognising the client as an individual and taking things at their pace.

The core foundations of how she works stem from the person-centred approach, meaning she focuses on developing a trusting relationship where you feel comfortable sharing difficult experiences in a safe and heard space. She looks to integrate Existential counselling within her approach, which looks at understanding the meaning of your own existence and working towards living a more authentic life. Finally, with the use of the psychodynamic approach, you may look at the role of the conscious and unconscious mind in relation to attachment theory and the impact of early childhood relationships on who you are today.

Sonia believes everyone is unique, and understanding your experiences and their impact on who you are is fundamental to growing and developing. There is so much power in knowledge, which can help you feel you have choices in your life again. Although you cannot change your challenging experiences, you can work towards what happens next.

We are all on our own journeys, and the length of time a person may wish to continue counselling may vary; therefore, Sonia offers open-ended counselling, which means there is no set amount of sessions to our work.
